Task force extends moratorium on LSI entry in Cadiz, La Castellana

THE Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) in Western Visayas has extended the moratorium on the entry of locally stranded individuals in Cadiz City and La Castellana.

The extension in Cadiz City is until November 30, while RIATF Resolution No. 64 dated November 13 also imposed a similar travel suspension of LSIs bound for La Castellana from November 16 to 21 as requested by Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan.

Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. earlier asked the RIATF for an LSI travel ban in early November until the 15th.

In a statement, Escalante said he requested an extension because of the high cases of infection among frontliners.

"We also need to disinfect and rehabilitate some portions of the quarantine facilities at St. Andrew's," the mayor said.

The RIATF resolution said the moratorium will give sufficient time for the Cadiz City government to prepare the city's quarantine facility before accommodating a new batch of LSI.

In the case of La Castellana, the RIATF cited the town's IATF resolution recommended for a moratorium of the return of LSIs.
