Negros Occidental to give P1M each to typhoon-hit Albay, Catanduanes

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will give cash donation amounting to P1 million each for typhoon-hit provinces.

This is Capitol's response to the call for help of local government units in Luzon devastated by the series of typhoons that hit their areas.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz on Monday, November 16, 2020, said Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has instructed the Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council to allocate financial assistance of P1 million each to provinces of Catanduanes and Albay, which were badly hit by Typhoon Rolly.

Diaz said Lacson is slated to convene the PDRRMC to look into the possibility of allocating an additional amount to assist Cagayan and other LGUs devastated by Typhoon Ulysses.

Noting that the flooding is very pervasive in Luzon and its destruction very appalling, Diaz said it is a sad thing to witness at this time of the pandemic.

"We hope also to assist them because, in time of need, we should be available to assist our LGUs who were devastated," he said.

The Philippine Coast Guard also announced Monday that it is accepting donations for Cagayan Valley and Bicol regions recently devastated by typhoons.

Coast Guard said residents in those areas need food and water.
