Cagayan de Oro to donate P1M each to 4 typhoon-hit provinces

CAGAYAN de Oro City Government will allot P1 million cash assistance to each of the four provinces that were hit by Typhoon Ulysses (international name Vamco) last week, Mayor Oscar Moreno said Tuesday, November 17.

Moreno said it will be up to the Provincial Governments of Cagayan, Isabela, Albay, and Catanduanes on how to allocate the cash aid to its affected municipalities or component cities.

"Kini nga kantidad di man ni dinagko pero from the people of Cagayan de Oro this is sincerely provided, tabang-tabang sa ila," Moreno said.

Moreno said that while he is not familiar with the governors of the aforementioned provinces, the assistance is on behalf of the people of Cagayan de Oro.

Meanwhile, the City Social Welfare and Development Office began accepting donations of clothes, hygiene kits, blankets/towels, and canned food items on Tuesday through its "Operation Tabang," a donation drive for the victims of Typhoon Ulysses. The donation drop off point is at Gaston Park near Ginama Pasalubong Center.

As of November 15, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 67 deaths have been reported and a total of 231,312 people in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas were evacuated.
