Coast Guard accepts donations for Typhoon Ulysses victims

PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG)-Southern Visayas district commander Captain Eduardo De Luna said they are accepting donations for the victims of the heavy flooding in the Cagayan Valley and Bicol regions.

De Luna said they are specifically asking for donations of non-perishable food such as canned goods, powdered milk, and rice. The local PCG is also asking for bottled drinking water.

De Luna said that all gathered supplies will then be picked up by PCG vessels, which will then bring them to the affected areas.

De Luna said residents of Negros may drop their donations at their nearest PCG sub-station, or at the PCG-Southern Visayas district headquaters located on San Patricio Blvd., Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.

The Provincial Government announced earlier that it is giving cash assistance amounting to P1 million per province for Albay and Catanduanes that were devastated by Typhoon Rolly per order of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz, however, pointed out the financial assistance is still being discussed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.

The assistance is targeted to be given to victims of Typhoon Rolly and additional funds are also being prepared for victims of Typhoon Ulysses, and an emergency meeting would be called in order to act on the allocation request.
