THE City Government of Bacolod will require all vendors from three major public markets in the city to register in Bacolod City Covid-19 Contact Tracing (BaCTrac) system.

Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, cluster head on markets, said Tuesday, November 17, that he already talked with City Administrator Em Ang to require all vendors from Burgos Public Market, Central Public Market and Libertad Public Market to register in BaCTrac system.

“This is for the protection of our vendors because they already underwent swab testing for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and most of them were tested negative of the virus,” he said.

He added that there will be an identified entrance and exit in three major public markets and all customers will be required to present their quick response (QR) code or to write on the logbook.

The City Ordinance (CO) 941 or the Covid-19 Contact Tracing System Ordinance was implemented on November 12 and all business establishments and government offices are required to register on BaCTrac system, but it’s not mandatory to the private citizens.

Pineda said they will hold a meeting with the market vendors Wednesday, November 18, to discuss their needs so they can register on BaCTrac system.

As of November 12, a total of 6,611 business establishments and 340,358 persons in Bacolod City have registered in the BaCTrac system.

Business establishments that fail to comply will be fined from P1,000, P2,500, up to P5,000 and/or imprisonment for not more than six months for the first, second, third and succeeding offenses, respectively.

The Covid-19 Contact Tracing System Ordinance of Bacolod City, authored by Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, covers all business establishments, government offices, residents and visitors within the territorial jurisdiction of Bacolod City, including public utilities and spaces, such as but not limited to, public markets, public terminals and public transport.
