AFTER two days of decline in the number of new local cases, Cagayan de Oro City Health Office has recorded 28 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, two of whom are locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and 26 are local transmissions, epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya reported on Thursday, November 19.
This brought the total number of confirmed infections in the city to 2,116.
Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 26 new local cases, 10 are close contacts of previously confirmed cases and one is a local authorized person outside residence (Apor).
Mayor Oscar Moreno said if Cagayan de Oro sustains a decline of local Covid-19 cases between November 19 and November 30, then the restrictions, such as the curfew hours and age limit, will be relaxed.
"Gusto gyud nato ma relax pero, abi nimo ang problema kung mag relax ta sunod when the figures do not favor us, lisod kaayo. Dapat ang imong environment must approximate sa sitwasyon on the field," Moreno said.
"Kung mag improve ang atong situation, what that means is that our measures, interventions and the behavior of the people are working kay minus naman ang positive cases so that means nag minus ang pagkaylap sa virus," he added.
Of the 2,116 total Covid-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro, 377 are under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 1,739 cases are local transmissions.
According to Nery, the 1,739 local cases consist of 155 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), 888 local index cases, and 696 local cases with link.
Cagayan de Oro has recorded 575 active cases, 25 of whom are admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), 530 are outpatients, and 20 are ROFs/LSIs.
The city also registered 25 new coronavirus-positive persons who are now tagged as recovered after their repeat swab test results came out negative. This brought the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 1,452.
Of the figure, 259 are LSIs, 97 are ROFs and 1,096 are local cases (community: 866; Apors: 230).
The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city remains at 89.
