Negros Occidental governor not keen to reopen Mambukal yet

PROVINCIAL Administrator Rayfrando Diaz on Thursday, November 19, 2020, said Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is not yet keen on reopening the Mambukal Resort this year.

Diaz said the governor does not want to let the public freely roam around the province during the pandemic, having second thoughts about reopening the resort this year.

Diaz said it is very likely that the governor will monitor the trend of the virus and unlikely to reopen the resort anytime soon.

He said the provincial government is eager to reopen the resort at the soonest possible time, but they don't want to put the public's health at risk.

He further said they will prioritize the public's safety first rather than the income they could generate.

The Mambukal Mountain Resort, which is located in Barangay Minoyan in the town of Murcia, had been made into a temporary quarantine facility since March of this year shortly after the province was placed under enhanced community quarantine.
