WITH an almost dormant 2020, Filipinos will surely feel a sharp spike in their desire to travel away from their homes and hometowns. But with expensive and tedious air and sea travel requirements resulting from the pandemic, our wanderlust will target land travel more since it allows for the ideal privacy of movement and social distancing unlike riding in commercial planes or ships.
Market studies have recently captured a growing trend in the auto industry, which is the escalating popularity of pickup trucks as lifestyle vehicles. Once the tool of choice for people whose business required heavy towing, payload and off-roading, pickup trucks like the Ford Ranger have evolved into modern lifestyle vehicles that offer the same comfort and technologies as cars but with the versatility and toughness to function as a workhorse, business partner, family vehicle and anything in-between. Work or play, the modern pickup truck is the ultimate expression of independence and local enterprise.
Ford Philippines launched the new model of the Ford Ranger two years ago equipped with enhanced power, performance and smart and safe features. The top-selling variants of the Ranger here in Bacolod dealership are the Ford Wildtrak and the new Ford Raptor, which combines Ford Performance DNA with the Ranger’s renowned "Built Ford Tough" character and capability to set a new benchmark in high-speed, off-road pickup capability. Other variants available are the Ranger XLS, Ranger XLT and the Ranger FX4.
They say a long drive, good music and good company when combined is a great therapy for a tired soul. Our family took a Ford Ranger Wildtrak for a spin this week in Sipalay City, the second southernmost town in Negros Occidental and about 178 kilometers from Bacolod City.
Dubbed as the Jewel of the Sugar Island, Sipalay boasts of its beautiful sunset, clean shorelines and pristine waters. The city is home to beautiful beaches, resorts, bays, diving spots, caves, bays, fishing villages and vegetable farms. One will be amazed at just how many adventures you can experience in a small city like Sipalay.
The experience was made complete with a very smooth drive of the Wildtrak 4x2 equipped with a new wheel design, LED headlamps, camera-based Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and high-mount USB feature to support various dashcam models also found in the Ranger Raptor. AEB helps mitigate risks by detecting pedestrians and vehicles, alerting drivers with an audible and visual warning. The Wildtrak is also equipped with Active Park Assist (APA) which helped us find parallel parking spaces and steers itself to a parking spot. All we need to do is control the throttle and brake. Its Adaptive Cruise Control senses traffic and adjusts speed automatically while the Lane Departure Warning feature vibrates the steering wheel if we unintentionally move out of our lane at a certain speed.
We love the Smart Keyless Entry and push-button start, as well as up to six airbags ensuring maximum convenience and safety. I am fascinated with the new 8-inch LCD touchscreen radio with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Capability with SYNC3 allowing drivers to make calls, select music, and use apps with eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
Ford Bacolod started in 2001 and their showroom was located in Araneta - Singcang St., Bacolod City. In 2007, they transferred to a new building in Talisay City, thus, the name of the dealership was changed to Ford Negros Occidental.
In the past 19 years, according to Ford Talisay, the Ranger has proven itself to be the most sought pick up in the Negros island, and every year, unit sales are increasing. Tagged as every man’s pick up, the Ranger boasts of its power, durability and safety with a 10-speed automatic transmission and refined 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine that offers torque power without compromising fuel efficiency. We have proven this with low fuel consumption during our Sipalay trip.
The Ford Truck Month is extended this November with special deals of up to P90,000 discount on Wildtrak and Premium Care Package for Raptors. For more details about the Ford Ranger, visit or call Ford Talisay at (034) 441 0865 or go to www.ford.com.ph/trucks/ranger.
