SOME 100 indigent women, who are livelihood program beneficiaries, have received P10,000 each so they can start their own businesses.

The initiative is part of the Women Empowerment through Livelihood Entrepreneurship Advancement Program (We Leap) livelihood project of the City Government's Gender and Development (GAD).

Mayor Cris Garbo, GAD head Charolo Costales, and Mabalacat City Association of Empowered Women president Ruth Baldoz led the distribution of the livelihood grants.

The program aims to assist indigent women and solo parent, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Ang programang ito ay naglalayong bigyan ng puhunang pang negosyo ang mga indigent women at solo parent upang maidagdag sa income ng kanilang pamilya lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya," Garbo said.

The local government will monitor the progress of their respective businesses.
