TWENTY-FIVE farmers from the upland barangays of Moises Padilla town have received water buffalos with plows and harrows from the Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Special Area for Agricultural Development (Saad) project.
Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo led the distribution at the Livestock Auction Market in the southern Negros Occidental town on Thursday, November 19, 2020.
Of the beneficiaries, 13 are from Mamballo Tibubong Integrated Farmers Association, while 12 are from Barangay Macagahay Integrated Farmers Association.
Garcia-Yulo, in her message, thanked the DA for the buffalos and farm equipment.
The mayor urged the beneficiaries to breed the animals so other people from their areas may benefit from them as well.
"The government is always ready to help the people in improving their lives," she added.
The DA said only Moises Padilla was given a large number of buffalos.
The agency urged the recipients to take care of the animals as they are high breeds, hoping that the farmers' lives will be improved through the project.
Also present in the activity were Moises Padilla councilor Vincent Bryan Garcia and Barangay Macagahay chairman Francis Necessito. (EPN)
