AUTHORITIES arrested on Saturday morning, November 21, 2020, two drug suspects who yielded methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) valued at almost P175 million.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Debold Sinas said Kalif Latif, 24, and his brother Akisah, 18, were arrested during a drug bust at around 7:30 a.m. in Barangay 188, Tala, Caloocan City.
Their 14-year-old brother, who was believed to be used by his older brothers in their illegal drugs transactions, was “rescued” and turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
Confiscated from the two brothers were 25.7 kilograms of shabu with an estimated value of P174.76 million. These were packed to look like tea with the label Qing Shan.
Caloocan City Police chief, Police Colonel Samuel Mina, said the older suspect was included in the barangay drugs watchlist and is apparently running his drug trafficking activities with his two younger brothers.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
The operation was conducted by the operatives of the Caloocan City Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) National Capital Region. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
