Barmm gives aid to pandemic-displaced workers

THE Ministry of Labor and Employment in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOLE-Barmm) has released P12 million assistance to some 2,400 employees in Lanao del Sur displaced by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

MOLE-Barmm Minister Romeo Sema said Monday, November 23, that the financial aid was released through the agency's Covid-19 Assistance Program (CAP) and each of the recipients received P5,000.

Sema said that CAP, as one of the special programs implemented by MOLE, aims to lessen the financial burden brought about by the current health pandemic.

The other programs MOLE-Barmm is implementing are bridging employment program assistance for the youth, government internship for new college graduates, sagip batang manggagawa (SBM) and community emergency employment, added Sema.

"Our programs, apart from other ministries, are the manifestation of willingness of the Barmm government to really go through the communities to give its services-this was the marching order of the Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim," he said.

Sema also said that 90 beneficiaries under the SBM program were given P2,000 each. This program is a livelihood assistance aimed to stop employment of minors that hinders youth education and development. (SunStar Zamboanga)
