THE order to limit movement between neighboring towns and Baguio City will stay, said Baguio City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña.
"This is the effect of being strict in our borders, it was extended, we are doing this to make everybody safe," Dela Peña said.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong issued last week a travel restriction order between the municipalities of La Trinidad, Tuba, Tublay, and Sablan that is effective until December 4, 2020.
The order states that only residents of La Trinidad, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay, who are workers of public and private offices or establishments in Baguio, and those with medical appointments or medical emergencies, are allowed to enter Baguio City during the effectivity period.
The residents of Sablan, Tublay, and Tuba can also just enter Baguio to access essential goods and services on designated schedules provided by their respective barangays.
Dela Peña said Magalong, who is out of town on official business, already adjusted the order's effectivity date from November 21 to November 26 to give people in the affected areas enough time to acquire medical certificates.
Baguio residents are also advised to limit their travels to La Trinidad, Sablan, Tublay, and Tuba, while offices and establishments who have employees and workers residing in these areas are urged to implement work-from-home or alternate work arrangements.
The order was met with opposition from neighboring towns.
