17 nabbed for illegal cockfighting

SEVENTEEN persons were arrested by operatives of Police Station 7 for illegal cockfighting in Purok Himaya, Barangay Ailijis, Bacolod City Sunday afternoon, November 22.

Police identified the suspects as Eduardo Robles, 49; Riolen Adlaon, 45; Romvic Manalo, 22; Roquito Albito, 62; Oliver Albito, 40; Artemio Legaspi, 56; Jonathan Sanchez, 19; Edgardo Robles, 25; Ken Octoso, 38; Justin Berueda, 22, all residents of Barangay Alijis; and Daniel Moreno, 40; Tikboy Bonggoy, 42; Raffy Olara, 34; Florencio Pastor, 59; Jose Maria Pabillo, 47; and Anthony Lazara, 30, all residents of Barangay Taloc, Bago City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Monday, November 23, that the Police Station 7 led by Lieutenant Conrado Espino Jr. received information that there was an illegal cockfighting in Purok Himaya.

The operatives arrived around 1 p.m. and the suspects were caught in the act of initiating illegal cockfighting.

Police recovered from the suspects two fighting cocks and P700 bet money.

The suspects were detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7 and facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449 or the Cockfighting Law.

Meanwhile, a theft suspect was also arrested by operatives of Police Station 9 in Purok San Miguel, Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City Sunday evening.

Arrested was Jason Estillo, 19, of Purok Lampirong, Jalandon, Barangay 2.

Pico said the suspect was arrested after he was caught in the act of stealing the corrugated roofing sheets owned by Sorsoro Ibaba Development Corporation around 8:30 p.m.

The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 9 and facing theft charges.
