DOH reports over 1,000 new coronavirus infections

LESS than 2,000 new coronavirus infections were reported for the 15th consecutive day on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its case bulletin Tuesday, confirmed 1,118 new infections, the lowest in the last 20 days.

These brought the total case count in the country to 421,722, of which 26,745 or 6.3 percent were active cases.

The DOH also reported 12 additional mortalities, raising the death toll from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to 8,185. The case fatality rate remained at 1.94 percent.

There were an additional 196 recoveries, pushing the total number of people who have recovered to 386,792.

There were fewer tests conducted on November 23. The DOH case bulletin showed only 16,225 tests, of which 858 or 5.3 percent yielded positive results.

Among the new infections confirmed Tuesday were 89 from Caloocan City, 52 from Davao City, 52 from Laguna, 47 from Quezon province and 46 from Quezon City. (Marites Villamor-Ilano/SunStar Philippines)
