THE haunted and scary stories continue even this December as Viva Entertainment and TV5 resurrect the hit horror anthology in 2000 -- Kagat ng Dilim.

Behind the all-new Kagat ng Dilim are four new breeds of critically acclaimed directors. Let's get to know the directors and the stories they contribute to the much-anticipated show.

Richard Somes

Director Richard Somes is the man behind the success of "Yanggaw" at the Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival, where he was recognized as the best director. He was known for his works "Cry No Fear" and "Corazon: Unang Aswang."

For this horror anthology, he directs Binabahayan (starring Nathalie Hart), Hinagpis (starring Ella Cruz), and Taglugar (starring Cindy Miranda).

Lawrence Fajardo

This award-winning director has been hailed in both Netpac Award at Vesoul Asian Film Festival and Sinag Maynila Film Festival for his film "Imbisibol." He is also a winner at the Cinemalaya Film Festival for Best Short Film, "Kultado". Other films he directed are "Class 3 Has a Secret" and "The Strangers."

Fajardo will be directing the pilot episode entitled Hukay starring Cristine Reyes as Maya who arrives in the town of San Malverde to do some business. She then discovers an underground tunnel which is said to have a hidden gateway to hell.

Other episodes he will be directing for Kagat ng Dilim are 14th Floor (starring Kim Molina), and Toktok which will be top-billed by Mccoy de Leon, Julian Trono, Carlyn Ocampo, and Aubrey Caraan.

Paul Basinillo

He may be known as a prolific concert director for sold-out concerts of Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, such as "This 15 Me" and "24/SG," and "The Cr3w" with Billy Crawford, Sam Concepcion, and James Reid, but Paul Basinillo can also do jump-scare, horrifying shows just like hos hit mini-series "Tabi Po."

Basinillo will be working for the episodes Ukay-Ukay, Pugot, and Pagpag. These episodes will be featuring Meg Imperial, Diego Loyzaga, and Jerald Napoles, respectively.

Rae Red

A rose among the thorns, Rae Red embarks on another must-see work on Kagat ng Dilim. She was recently feted as best director for "Babae at Baril" at the QCinema International Film Festival and Gawad Urian Award. She is also a recipient of Best First Feature award for "Si Chedeng at Si Apple" at the Young Critics Circle.

She will be doing the episodes Kakambal (starring Matteo Guidicelli); Manika (starring Mark Anthony Fernandez and Maui Taylor); Sabel (starring Louise Delos Reyes); and Salakay (starring Gardo Versoza).

With this exciting lineup, topnotch direction, and stellar cast, "Kagat ng Dilim" is nothing less of a must-see horror anthology in this modern time. All episodes will feature Filipino folktales, myths, creatures, and urban legends that have brought terror to Filipinos through the years.

Catch it every Friday starting November 27 at 9:30 p.m., only on TV5.
