WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) No. 9 rated light flyweight Mark Vicelles will slug it out with veteran Arnold Garde in a 10-round bout in “Kumbati 6,” the first of Omega Pro Sports International’s (OPSI) two-part “Bubble” boxing show on Dec. 18.
The 24-year-old Vicelles is coming off a fourth round knockout of Junuel Lacar in “Kumbati 5” last Oct. 7, OPSI’s first boxing event since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Garde is a nine-year veteran and has faced the likes of former world champion Randy Petalcorin, International Boxing Organization (IBO) light flyweight champion Tibo Monabesa, Jonathan Taconing, Dave Apolinario and Jerven Mama.
Vicelles is 12-0-1 with six knockouts, while the 30-year-old Garde is 10-10-3 with four knockouts.
“Kumbati 6,” which will start at 1 p.m., also features a 10-rounder between Tomjune Mangubat (11-2-1, 9 KOs) and Reymond Empic (7-5, 3 KOs).
In the undercard, Regie Suganob (4-0, 1 KO) locks horns with Robert Ates (4-7, 2 KOs), Carlo Bacaro (6-0, 5 KOs) trades leathers with Ryan Maano (5-9-2, 1 KO), and Benny Cañete makes his pro debut against fellow newcomer Roque Villagonzalo.
Later in the evening at 7 p.m. is the second part of the show, “Kumbati 7.”
The second part is headlined by a 10-round fight between International Boxing Federation (IBF) No. 7 rated light flyweight Christian Araneta (18-1, 14 KOs) and Roland Jay Biendema (15-6-1, 8 KOs).
Pete Apolinar (12-1, 8 KOs) is fighting Danny Tampipi (9-11-2, 5 KOs) in the co-main event.
In the undercard, Albert Pagara (32-1, 23 KOs) squares off with Virgil Puton (18-14-2, 9 KOs), and Franco Serafica (3-1, 1 KO) takes on Matthew Fondales (1-2).
Ifugao sensation Carl Jammes Martin (15-0, 14 KOs) is also featured in “Kumbati 7” against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
