DRUG charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against three drug personalities arrested in a drug bust by operatives of Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 4 and 7 on Scorpio Street, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City on Monday, November 23, 2020.
Police Captain Jun Ray Batadlan, chief of Police Station 8, said the PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 4 and 7 filed violations of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against Jun Mark Ibe, 28, while his live-in partner Regine Arroz, 28, was also charged for violation of Section 6 of RA 9165.
He said their house helper Shiela Mhary Balarao, 34, of Barangay Palara Norte, Pulupandan, was also charged for violation of Section 11 of RA 9165.
The three suspects were caught selling shabu to a police undercover of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group-Special Operations Unit 4 and 7 on Scorpio Street, Barangay Singcang-Airport Monday evening.
Police recovered from the suspects 20 big and three small transparent plastics containing shabu weighing two kilograms with an estimated market value of P13.6 million, the P14,000 marked money and P29,000 cash.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran earlier said the PNP Drug Enforcement Group was headed by former BCPO director Colonel Henry Binas and they monitored that there would be a shipment of illegal drugs from Manila to Bacolod.
The contraband was placed in a big box and was shipped through a courier firm in Bacolod.
Batadlan said one of the suspects admitted that the contraband is intended in some barangays in the city, especially the numbered barangays.
He said the suspects got their supply from Metro Manila and Ibe was tasked to pick the contraband at a courier firm in the city, as well as his live-in partner and the house helper.
Batadlan added the suspects were not included on their drug watchlist because they were only new in the area. (MAP)
