Panguil Bay Bridge 2021 1st quarter priority project in Northern Mindanao

THE National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) Friday, November 27, said one of the priority projects in Northern Mindanao in the first quarter of 2021 is the construction of the P7.3-billion Panguil Bay Bridge.

The 3.772-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge will connect Tangub City, Misamis Occidental and Tubod, Lanao del Norte. Land travel time from Ozamiz/Tangub, Misamis Oriental to Tubod, Lanao del Norte will be cut to seven minutes from the current 2.0 to 2.5 hours.

This will help in boosting economic activities in the region, Neda Assistant Regional Director Leonila Cajarte said.

Aside from the Panguil Bay Bridge, other projects to be implemented in Northern Mindanao during the first quarter of 2021 is the P122.4-million Camp Evangelista Station Hospital.

"Ang atong budget for 2021 misuporta sa atong mga Covid-19 response, disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance program," Cajarte said.

She added that also part of the 2021 budget is assisting local government units in building shelter and resettlement and infrastructure such as road, bridges and evacuation facilities.

On Thursday, November 26, the Senate approved the proposed P4.506-trillion national budget for 2021 on third and final reading.

The Senate amended the approved House Bill 7727, or 2021 General Appropriations Bill, to strengthen the government’s coronavirus disease 2019 response and disaster management efforts, as well as expedite economic recovery.
