Central Luzon coronavirus cases reach 22,000; 703 dead

THE confirmed coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in Central Luzon have now risen to 22,043, according to the November 25 bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) in the region.

Of the said total number of confirmed cases, some 17,800 cases or roughly 80.75 percent have recovered. Some 16.06 percent of the total number of cases, or 3, 540, are still active. The region’s mortality rate is currently at 3.19 percent with 703 recorded deaths, Friday.

Of the 3,540 remaining active cases, 35.14 percent or 1, 244 are asymptomatic, while 62.3 percent or 2,205 are mild cases. Severe cases are currently 2.1 percent representing 74 cases with only 0.48 percent or 17 cases as critical.

For November 25 alone, new cases were reported in Pampanga (80), Bulacan (45), Tarlac (21), Angeles City (13), Nueva Ecija (11), Zambales (six), Bataan (three), and Olongapo City (two).

Bataan still has the most number of cases nearing its 10,000-mark with 9, 229 cases, as of November 25. Pampanga, excluding Angeles City, has the second-highest number of confirmed cases at 3,733, followed by Bulacan with 9,229.

Chartered cities in the region have also recorded a considerable number of cases with Angeles City and Olongapo, having recorded 1,314 and 908 cases, respectively.

The DOH said 54.23 percent of intensive care unit beds in the region are available. There are also 720 isolation beds currently available among public hospitals in the region.
