Public urged to strengthen health

THE Department of Health–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH–CAR) urged again the public to continue improving the upper respiratory system.

Doing so is a way of combating viral infection, including coronavirus diseases (Covid-19), especially during the cold months.

Geeny Anne Austria of the DOH-CAR Center for Health and Development said there is a need to strengthen one’s resistance to avoid being infected by viruses.

“For this coming cold season, we really have to ensure that the preventive measures, which include observing a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet, and to strengthen our resistance level,” Austria said.

Aside from observing a healthy lifestyle, DOH–CAR reiterated the continuous visit to a physician and the observance of proper hygiene.

“One good thing the coronavirus taught us is the observance and practice of proper hygiene, particularly the practice of proper handwashing. This has taught us not to touch our nose and faces and the use of alcohol,” Austria said.

Austria said with the practice of proper handwashing during this health pandemic, an attitude of good health practice has been instilled in everyone.

“This is a good thing because we became conscious and we now practice proper hygiene, we now observe the use of handwashing amenities even before eating. The observance of social distancing also helps us prevent the possible transmission of viral diseases like measles, diphtheria and others,” Austria added.

DOH also encouraged parents to ensure vaccination procedures for children and adults to help ensure a strengthened resistance level.
