GAB to host 2020 Professional Sports Summit on December 5

THE Games and Amusement Board (GAB) is organizing its 2nd Professional Sports Summit through Zoom Teleconferencing and Facebook Live on December 5, 2020, as it embraces the new normal platform of gathering people.

The one-day virtual event, which will start at 9 a.m., will be divided into two parts: the morning session showcasing the different topics related to boxing rules, mental health and laws related to professional sports, among others; while the afternoon session will be a live session, wherein different sports icons and national leaders are expected to attend.

In 2019, Senator "Bong" Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, and Senator "Sonny" Angara, chairman of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, graced the first-ever Professional Sports Summit at the Philippine International Convention Center. They gave inspirational messages to more than 600 participants from different parts of the world, which had been a remarkable two-day event for all sports enthusiasts and participants.

This year, the GAB headed by Chairman Abraham Kahlil "Baham" Mitra, alongside Commissioners Mar Masanguid and Ed Trinidad, is expecting to have Senators Angara, Joel Villanueva, and Manny Pacquiao - who is also a world boxing champion, gracing another significant event in Philippine professional sports.

This year’s event is dubbed “Leadership in Crisis” and aims to collect ideas and best practices from high profile professional sports leagues, such as Basketball Association, Chooks-to-Go 3x3 Pilipinas, National Basketball League, Premier Volleyball League, Professional Chess Association of the Philippines, Philippine Football League, and among others. Also expected to grace this sports summit are Philippine professional sports icons former world boxing champion Gerry Peñalosa; World Pool champions Efren "Bata" Reyes and Django Bustamante; 1st Asian Chess Grandmaster Eugene Torre, and former PBA player Sean Chambers.
