Cop dies in gun attack

INVESTIGATION is underway to unmask the culprits behind the gun slay of a policeman in Zamboanga City, an official announced Monday, November 30, 2020.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Police Senior Master Sergeant Leo San Juan of Zamboanga City Police Office’s Station 1.

Duco said San Juan was aboard his vehicle when he was shot by one of two riding-in-tandem on a motorcycle around 6:50 p.m. Saturday at the parking lot of the Classigue Sports Complex in Sinunuc village, this city.

Based on information gathered, the gunman fled towards west coast direction of the City.

San Juan, who sustained two gunshot wounds, was rushed to a hospital where he expired around 8 p.m. of the same day while under medical treatment.

Duco said all possible motives are being considered in the conduct of the investigation to ascertain the identities of the suspects behind the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
