PERSONNEL of the Land Transportation Office-Central Visayas (LTO 7) apprehended around 70 motorists for various violations at the Transcentral Highway in Malubog, Cebu City on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.
LTO 7 Director Victor Caindec said the operation, which was jointly made with the Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Central Visayas (RHPU 7), had them issuing 74 temporary operator’s permit to erring motorists.
Aside from those issued with TOPs, LTO 7 personnel led by Rafael Dominico Cortes and Police Capt. Silvestre Cenia Jr. of RHPU inspected 80 cars and 60 motorcycles with complete documents such as official receipt (OR), certificate of registration (CR) and driver’s license.
Majority of those apprehended violated several traffic rules including illegal installing accessories on their motorcycles, failure to put the seatbelt on, failure to bring OR and CR; failing to wear helmet while driving, failure to secure a vehicle’s plate, no driver’s license, illegally altering the motorcycle’s exhaust pipe, broken brake lights, among others.
After reading several comments against their operation on social media, Caindec urged motorists to contest their apprehensions before his office rather than make unfounded allegations against his personnel.
“Sa mga nadakpan nya post dayon sa ilang yawyaw, may I remind you kung naa kay reklamo you have the right to protest. Pero kana mo post sa social media kay mura gusto nimu ipagawas nga sakto gyud ka pero sayop diay, siguroha nga di na ka madakpan balik,” Caindec said.
(For those who were apprehended then complained on social media on what happened to them, may I remind yout that you have the right to protest your apprehension. But posting on social media your complaints against my personnel even though you are clearly at fault, be sure we won’t apprehend you again)
The joint operation conducted by LTO 7 and RHPU 7 is part of the mandate of the national government’s transportation sector in ensuring that traffic rules are met even during the Covid-19 pandemic. / PAC / JKV
