Wesmincom commander Corleto Vinluan said soldiers from the 40th Infantry Battalion were conducting combat patrol in Barangay Bulod, General Salipada K. Pendatun at around 2 a.m. Tuesday when they encountered an undetermined number of armed men under commander Mac4.

He said a firefight ensued and lasted for about five minutes.
