Less than 1,500 added to PH virus case count

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, reported 1,298 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total case count in the Philippines to 432,925.

There were 27 additional mortalities, raising the death toll from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to 8,418 percent or 1.94 percent of the total.

An additional 135 persons were listed as recoveries, increasing the total recoveries to 398,782 or 92.1 percent of the total.

Among the new cases were 84 from Ilocos Norte, 61 from the City of Manila, 55 from Quezon province, 50 from Laguna and 47 from Negros Occidental.

The number of tests conducted on November 30 reached 17,699, fewer than the 18,4453 tests conducted on November 29.

There remained 25,725 active cases, or persons who are either confined in hospitals or in isolation centers.

Globally, infections went up to more than 63.25 million, of which around 1.46 million were mortalities, as of December 1, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. (Marites Villamor-Ilano / SunStar Philippines)
