Covid-19 patient infects kin

FOUR members of a family are now positive for Sars-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), after they were infected by another family member.

MC#75, the source of infection, is a local caregiver who first tested positive for the virus on November 23 and was immediately brought to an isolation facility.

The local government, meanwhile, was able to identify 12 individuals -- nine from this town and three from her workplace -- whom she had closed contact with.

As of the weekend, the local government said that four of her close contacts have already also tested positive for the virus.

Among the infected family members are her daughter (MC#78), niece (MC#79), nephew (MC#80), and daughter-in-law (MC#81), all are from Barangay Caduang Tete.

Based on the latest report, MC#78 is the only patient who still manifests Covid-19 symptoms, while MC#81 is 39-week pregnant and is due for delivery anytime.

The local government is now monitoring other close contacts who are also lined up for swab testing.
