SOME agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (Arbos) assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North are showcasing their products at Murcia Public Plaza in line with the town's Tinabuay Festival celebration from December 1 to 8.
These organizations include Entorilan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association and A&G Esteban Farmers Association of Barangay San Miguel, RiceBis Negros Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Barangay Damsite, and Minoyan Murcia Marginal Coffee Growers of Barangay Minoyan, all of Murcia.
They will be displaying vegetables, fruits, root crops, and newly harvested organic brown, black, glutinous and well-milled rice during the eight-day activity dubbed "Tinda-Buay."
Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Antonia Figueroa said as frontliners to the production of food especially during this pandemic, the farmers are essential and as important as medical personnel.
"They are also the unsung heroes, working to deliver food straight to our tables so let us whole-heartedly support them," she added.
With Negros Occidental still under the modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), visitors are strictly encouraged to observe the minimum health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Health.
The DAR, through the Program Beneficiaries Development Division (PBDD), constitutes development and support services interventions by the provision of training programs and construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure facilities.
Access to basic social services is also included in this sector to ensure holistic support for the farmer-beneficiaries.
