Sungduan: Chosen leaders

WORKS continue for Soroptimist International Northern Central Luzon District in implementing programs and projects that will empower the lives of women and girls, especially in these trying times.

New District Director Jane Totanes said she will focus on attaining the goals of Soroptimist on improving the lives of the women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

"We are blessed to be a blessing to others who really needed our help," Totanes said.

She added that more target beneficiaries will be provided help with the full support of the four clubs of the district -- the SI Baguio, SI Pines, SI Igorots, and the newly chartered SI Summer Capital.

SI Summer Capital chartered President Lucia Ruiz said her club will continue pursuing the priority programs of Soroptimist International such as the "Live your dreams" and "Dream it be it" programs.

Furthermore, she will also look into more suited livelihood programs for this pandemic and will adopt a school and barangay for the necessary assistance.

The chartering of SI Summer Capital was made possible through the sponsorship of SI Igorots lead by Club President Mina Peil.

During the charter presentation of the club and induction and installation of members and new charter officials, Guest Speaker SIAPR Governor Gabrielle Venus Calizo Quimpo lauded the leaders of Soroptimist for their sincerity in serving especially in this pandemic situation.

"You are chosen leaders. Strengthen your members and continue to exude the spirit of volunteerism," Quimpo said in her online message.

Meanwhile, Membership Pillar Chairperson Marivic Paras served as the inducting officer for the chartering of SI Summer Capital members and charging officer for the installation of charter officers during the event.

With the Soroptimist leading, expect more communities in need to be given help in this pandemic.
