THE Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurial and Economic Development (Tech4Ed) Center run by the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology (Nolitc) has emerged as one of the winners in the PhilCecNet Pandemic Resilience Awards under the "Support for Teachers and Students" category.
The award was virtually received by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Nolitc Tech4Ed Center manager and vocational school administrator Dr. Ma. Cristina Orbecido during the KEC15 Closing Webinar streamed live via Youtube on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
The national award was given by the Philippine Community eCenter Network Inc. and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
It recognizes eCenters in the country that continue to deliver ICT-enabled services and government programs amid the ongoing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Lacson, in his acceptance speech, lauded Nolitc Tech4Ed Center for its resilience in providing such services to the public even in these trying times.
The governor said the Capitol-run center has been an impetus in reshaping the province's economic landscape by providing relevant education and training to meet the needs of the digital age.
Among the best practices of Nolitc Tech4ED Center during this pandemic that was showcased in the competition included online recruitment, online training and free webinars for animation, digital literacy and visual graphic design.
The online training has provided job opportunities to displaced workers and unemployed Negrenses.
