San Carlos village chiefs told to submit reports on measures vs Covid-19

THE 18 Punong Barangays of San Carlos City were told to submit reports to the local Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of the list of individuals they have apprehended or implementing measures regarding violations of their constituents of the health protocols that may have caused the further spread of Covid-19 in the city.

City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Joe Recalex C. Alingasa, EOC manager, ordered barangay captains to submit said report starting today December 3. Alingasa asked barangay captains on how they applied the necessary steps in their respective areas in helping curb local transmission, especially that many local residents violated the minimum

health protocols like wearing face masks and face shields and observing social distancing.

The said move was initiated due to the continuous rise of coronavirus positives.

City Administrator and EOC member lawyer Estefanio S. Libutan Jr. told barangay officials to submit reports on a weekly basis as part of the Disiplina Kontra Pandemya brigade that they need to comply with.

Sangguniang Panlungsod Member Dr. Wilmer Yap, EOC commander, said reports have reached the EOC that barangay officials are not supportive of the contact tracing operations in their areas and that some of those under strict home quarantine were not religiously monitored as some were even seen out of their houses.

Yap and Alingasa urged barangay captains to assert their authority over said violators and make arrests. Yap also assured barangay officials of police visibility in their areas to protect them during apprehensions of violators.

Police officers were also told to conduct another “one-time, big-time” operations for hard-headed residents, especially in densely populated areas who refused to follow the health protocols.

As of this writing, the three barangays with the highest Covid-19 cases include Barangay 2 with 71 positives followed by Barangay Rizal with 67 and Barangay 1 with 57.

San Carlos City now has a total confirmed cases of 412 coronavirus positives with 65 actives, 320 recoveries and 27 deaths. (PR)
