Another cop, 2 food delivery drivers test positive for coronavirus

ANOTHER policeman and two drivers of food delivery services in Bacolod City who joined the surveillance testing over the weekend have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, cluster head on markets and Bacolod Quick Response Team, said Thursday, December 3, 2020, the remaining swab test results of the 548 persons who underwent reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test yielded three positive results.

He said these included a policeman and two drivers of food delivery services in Bacolod City.

Based on the initial results released on Tuesday evening, another policeman also yielded a positive result.

Pineda noted of 548 persons who joined the surveillance testing over the weekend, only four yielded positive results, which indicates a .6 percent positivity rate.

On Sunday, a total of 467 food delivery drivers and policemen joined the surveillance testing at the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient (BRO) Center in Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center following about 81 food delivery drivers who also underwent RT-PCR test on Saturday.

Pineda said those who tested positive for the virus were already extracted and transferred to the city’s quarantine facility.

The city’s Emergency Operations Center also conducted contact tracing to locate those who have had close contacts with coronavirus-positive patients.

On December 5 and 6, the city government will hold another set of surveillance testing for the transport group, personnel of Bacolod Traffic Authority Office and drivers of the food delivery services who failed to join the surveillance testing on November 28 and 29.
