UNIDENTIFIED gunmen shot dead a habal-habal driver and injured three other persons in Barangay La Paz, Calbayog City Thursday, December 3, 2020.
Police identified the fatality as Rio Sabilao, 39, married.
Wounded were Virgenia Simino, 62; Zenaida Fermino, 54; and a 14-year-old student, all residents of Barangay Patong, Calbayog.
Initial investigation disclosed that the suspects fired upon Sabilao using undetermined caliber of firearms while he was driving his habal-habal together with the three other victims at the inhabited area of the said barangay, some 18 kilometers away from the city.
Sabilao sustained fatal gunshot wounds that caused his instantaneous death, police said in the report.
The three other victims were also hit and were immediately brought to the hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive of the shooting.
Calbayog City police are also conducting hot pursuit operations for possible identification and arrest of the fleeing suspects. (SunStar Philippines)
