SIXTY-NINE new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases were recorded in Mankayan, Benguet on December 3, the highest single-day new infection reported in the town.
Mayor Frenzel Ayong said of the 69 positive, 38 are from Barangay Paco; 27 in Marivic, Barangay Sapid; three in Barangay Poblacion; and one in BBarangay Tabio.
Mankayan's active cases have reached 157, with most of them currently isolated at the Carantes Isolation Facility, Mankayan Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility, Atok District Hospital, Benguet General Hospital, Lepanto Elementary School Isolation Facility, Lepanto National High School Isolation Facility, Marivic Elementary School while six are in home isolation.
The active cases in the town are ages one to 78 years old.
Aside from the 69 new cases, seven new confirmed cases were recorded in La Trinidad, three in Itogon, two in Tuba, one in Kapangan.
Thirty-eight recoveries were also recorded in the province December 3.
The local government unit of Mankayan also announced that starting this week, there will be no issuance of health declaration forms during Saturdays and asked constituents who intend to travel on Saturdays and Sundays to obtain their health declaration form on Fridays.
"This is to give our health workers time to give attention to other equally important functions especially in helping the contact tracing team," the local government unit said.
La Trinidad also recorded its 8th Covid-19 related death case bringing the total number of deaths cases in the province to 19.
The patient was a 92-year-old female from barangay Ambiong who was admitted on December 1 at Pines Doctors Hospital in Baguio. She had severe Pneumonia and multiple organ failure and she also had cardiac arrest.
Meanwhile, negotiations continue for additional isolation facilities in the province including the Concordia College with 100 isolation bed capacity.
The Venus Dormitory located in Baguio City known as the Benguet Provincial Isolation Facility IV also caters to Covid-19 patients from La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay areas.
As of December 3, the Provincial Government said there were 328 active cases in Benguet and 19 deaths.
