College student collared for spreading sex video with former girlfriend

A 22-YEAR-OLD college student in Cebu City was arrested for allegedly threatening his former girlfriend to post their sex video online if the latter refuses to sleep with him again.

The college student had sent the sex video to his friends last September. But his former girlfriend did not make any legal move against him at the time.

The student was caught in an entrapment conducted by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (Racu) 7 in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City past 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020.

The complainant is the student’s estranged 19-year-old girlfriend, who is also a college student.

Racu 7 Acting Chief Lt. Col. Artemio Recabo said the complainant reported the college student as she was afraid the sex video would circulate online.

Recabo said his team came up with a plan to entrap the man, who told his former girlfriend to meet him in Tisa. The complainant pretended to agree to meet with her former beau, who didn’t know she was bringing with her a team of police officers.

After the arrest, the complainant felt relief.

Documented

She told the police that she entered into a relationship with the college student in January 2020. Afterwards, they documented their intercourse by capturing it in a video.

Five months later, in June, their relationship turned sour. The complainant said the college student started to hurt her physically. She decided to end their relationship.

After their breakup, the college student often called the complainant. He kept on asking her to have sex with him, and he threatened her to spread their explicit video on Facebook if she refused.

The complainant repeatedly rejected her former boyfriend, who later made true of his threats last September. He shared their video to their friends via Facebook Messenger.

Afterwards, the college student still demanded that the complainant go to bed with him on several occasions. Two months later, the complainant decided to report her former boyfriend to the police.

The 22-year-old student will face complaints for violation of the Republic Act (RA) 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 and RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. / AYB / KAL
