POLICE and anti-narcotics agents arrested four drug suspects in separate buy-bust operations in Eastern Visayas towns Friday, December 4, 2020.
The alleged drug personalities were identified as Denes Animos, 52, jobless, and listed as a high-value individual (HVI) in Abuyog, Leyte; Jerome Mariquit, 28, construction worker, and street-level individual in Palo, Leyte; Romel MC Guire, 45, married, and a watch-listed drug personality in Tacloban City; and James Bryan Garces, 24, jobless, and an HVI-Regional level in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
Purchased from Animos was one sachet containing suspected shabu, while confiscated from his possession and control were three sachets containing suspected shabu and buy-bust money.
Mariquit allegedly sold five sachets containing dried leaves of suspected marijuana.
Police also confiscated from his possession and control four sachets containing dried leaves of suspected marijuana, buy-bust money and P1,782 cash.
In Tacloban City, Guire allegedly sold one sachet containing suspected shabu worth P500, the report said.
During the buy-bust operation, operatives confiscated from Guire’s possession and control 10 sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 1 gram worth P42,500 and buy-bust money.
Police and personnel from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the region arrested Garces after he allegedly sold five sachets containing suspected shabu in consideration of P5,000.
Confiscated from the suspect were buy-bust money, a cellular phone, lighter, cigarette sticks and a P1 coin.
The inventory of pieces of evidence was witnessed by barangay and media representatives, police said in the report.
The suspects will be facing charges for violation of sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
