Government employee, barangay councilor yield illegal drugs

ANTI-NARCOTICS agents arrested a government employee and a barangay councilor in separate buy-bust operations in Eastern Visayas over the weekend.

In Tacloban city, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as Kinneth Mark Nite, a government worker and a high-value individual.

He was arrested in Barangay Bagacay, Tacloban on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Purchased and confiscated during the operation was one sachet containing shabu weighing 11.9915 grams with an estimated worth P81,542 and two sachets containing suspected marijuana weighing 1.3008 grams with an estimated worth of P260.

PDEA operatives also arrested Rizaldo Lobina, a kagawad of Barangay Mantang, Taft in Eastern Samar.

The suspect is listed as a high-value target, the agency said in the report.

Purchased and confiscated from Lobina were two sachets containing suspected shabu weighing 0.1165 gram with an estimated market value of P792.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being readied against the two suspects. (SunStar Philippines)>
