IT IS interesting that the one sign of a new year is missing. I am talking about Planners here.
Bookstores and other stores that normally carry these have nothing in stock and if ever there are, they are not as plentiful as before. It is as if no one can see past this year. The feeling is something like why plan for next year when it seems distant and even ominous. So why plan and yes why have a planner. The one thing that was useless this year was the 2020 planner. What happened to your plans this year? What happened? The feeling today is that of lost hope and far away from light. Do you even have Christmas lights at home? What about a Christmas tree? Can you think past this year? This month? This week?
When you look out you see a lot despair, stupidity, ignorance, arrogance, corruption, more stupidity and selfishness. It can take away your breath really. And it leaves a hollow feeling. You want to get mad but it is useless. You want to rant...... You want to do a lot of things because it is the right thing but you cannot because...... And ...... So...... Forlorn, desperate, spent, tired and even more tired. So what now?
Look for a reason to go on. It does not matter what or who it is. Just have a reason. The more the reasons the better. But do not think ahead. Do not think of tomorrow because tomorrow does not exist. Think of something that will make you go through this day, the present. Could be anything. I constantly check and update my Spotify playlist. I pray longer. I am starting to read again. We are in the middle of Her Private Life. Webinars. Toastmasters meetings. Breakfast with my wife. Your job for today. Just for today.
Stop thinking of the coming days because they are not in your hands. Think of all your plans at the start of the year. What of them? Do not get ahead of yourself. Today is sufficient and more than you can handle truly. Some people are already in the future when they cannot even guarantee their present. That is arrogance. What is meant for you will not get past you. What is destined for you will happen for you. And vice versa. If it is not for you, it will not bear fruit. You cannot force what cannot be yours. And God determines that. You can say whatever you want, but if your plans are not of God's, you are fighting shadows. They will not happen.
I am not saying do not try. I am saying do not be obsessed by it. Obsession is a dark force. Be alert of those things that possess you because they will eventually overwhelm you. Fear. Anxiety. Worry. Greed. Do not be possessed by your own possessions because that too is grim. It does not let go.
Take each day for what it is. And have faith that in the end, everything will be according to God's plans. He has the ultimate planner after all.
The way of the Lord is always light.
