The Local Government of Himamaylan led by Mayor Ramund I.Tongson, Vice Mayor Justin S. Gatuslao and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod have greeted the Yuletide season with an amazing Christmas lights display that was switched on December 5.
The switch-on ceremony was held in the presence of some residents who preferred to witness the impressive opening of the Christmas lights display.
Mayor Tongson and his fellow officials decided to hold the switch-on on a virtual mode considering the Covid-19 health risk, but some people voluntarily came to the City Hall grounds when they learned about the exhibition.
The event ran for 15 minutes so as not to sacrifice the observance of the health protocol.
The mayor said the enthusiasm of the people was heartwarming. The program however was designed short so that everyone will enjoy the event safely.
There will be three sets of events to bring a brighter December night to the people of Himamaylan, Mayor Tongson said adding that there will be an upcoming schedule for their Old Taliban bridge and public plaza soon.
The following events will be aired via Facebook Live so that many Himamaylanons could witness the Christmas spectacles, he said.
The Team Acid and its Director artist Rodney Ascalon organized the show.
Queen of Bossa Nova Sitti Navarro performed during the switch-on ceremony.
Mayor Tongson thanked everyone who came despite the Covid-19 restrictions.
The show was amazing and very colorful. The people got photos of the whole facade of the City Hall as well as the fountain area which was spruced up and heightened by the dancing Christmas lights.
Mayor Tongson extended his gratitude to the people of Himamaylan for their continued support to his administration.
