Foreign fugitive arrested in Angeles City

A FOREIGNER being sought by the long arm of the law for alleged murder and illegal drug charges was arrested by authorities during a manhunt operation in Angeles City recently.

Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon identified the arrested individual as Gwon Kihun, male, Korean National, presently residing at Kandi Towers, Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City.

He said the suspect was arrested in Barangay Pampang by joint personnel of Angeles City Police Office Station 2, City Intelligence Unit and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Field Unit-Angeles City.

Gwon was arrested by virtue of a standing warrant for murder issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 116 and drug charges issued by RTC Branch 118, De Leon added.

During the suspect's arrest, police were able to confiscate three sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) weighing 2.3 grams with an estimated street value of P15,640 and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Appropriate charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being readied against the suspect.

Valeriano said the regional police continues to implement anti-criminality measures regardless of nationality.

“The message is very clear, regardless of the nationality of the fugitive or any perpetrator, Central Luzon is not a sanctuary for them," he said.
