DA gives livelihood aid to Zamboanga del Norte farmers group

THE Department of Agriculture-Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-Saad) program has released P1.2 million worth of agricultural interventions to an association of farmers in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.

Department of Agriculture Regional Executive Director Rad Donn Cedeño said the recipient of the assistance, which was released Friday, December 11, 2020, is the Labukanan Farmers Association of Daniel Maing village in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.

Cedeño said the association received a corn mill with shed worth P920,000 and four modules of layer chicken project, consisting of 192 heads valued at P242,000, as livelihood interventions to primarily increase agricultural production and income.

He said the release of the assistance is also in support of the agency’s mission of making food available and affordable for all.

Kalawit Municipal Mayor Salvador Antojado said the recipient farmer association is very fortunate because the DA-Saad has provided them project.

“The most important thing here now is that the project and your association will progress. I can visualize that the way you handle such project, you will be recognized as one of the most successful association from Saad one day,” Antojado was quoted to have told the farmer beneficiaries.

The Labukanan Farmers Association has expressed appreciation to DA-Saad for the livelihood support given them.

It said the support gave them a big hope and capital in assisting the improvement of the farmers' livelihood.

The release of the assistance to the recipient farmers group was also witnessed by Kalawit Vice Mayor Merly Masugbo and Municipal Councilor Mervin Masugbo. (SunStar Zamboanga)
