EMPLOYEES of the Lapu-Lapu City Government can look forward to a merry Christmas this year.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan announced, in his Christmas message, that all regular and casual employees of the city will receive Christmas bonus equivalent to their monthly salary.

Job order employees, on the other hand, will get this month eight percent of their monthly salary from the months of January to October. They will get an additional eight percent of their salary for the months of November and December in January 2021.

Aside from this, the city government will also give P5,000 as performance enhanced incentive to the employees, as well as ham and rice.

Chan announced the good news, saying he was happy with what the people have been doing in the fight against Covid-19.

He attributed Lapu-Lapu City’s successful campaign against the pandemic to the people’s help and cooperation.

Chan said he was proud that despite the threats of Covid-19, the City Hall has not been closed and that they continued to offer their services to the constituents.

He also thanked the city’s frontliners who risked their lives to make sure the Oponganons remain safe and healthy.

Among the tri-cities, which also include Cebu City and Mandaue City, it was Lapu-Lapu City that was first classified under the more relaxed Modified General Community Quarantine from the Enhanced Community Quarantine status.

Lapu-Lapu City was also the first city among the tri-cities to reopen its doors to tourism-related activities.

“Tungod sa atong nakab-ot angay lamang nga mag celebrate kita, angay lamang nga pahalipayan nato ang matag usa kanato para Merry ang atong Christmas (Because of what we have achieved, it is but right that we celebrate and reward everyone so that we can have a merry Christmas),” Chan said in his Christmas message.
