Cebuano Studies Center awarded for translation services to DOH

THE Department of Health (DOH) 7 Center for Health Development recognized the dedication, unending support and extensive efforts of the University of San Carlos Cebuano Studies Center (CSC) during the Virtual Local Health System Awards on Dec. 11, 2020 through Facebook Live.

The Cebuano Studies Center was one of the DOH partners in the delivery of quality health services in the region to address health-related inequalities.

At the height of the Covid-19 crisis earlier this year, the CSC extended its Cebuano translation services to the DOH and offered to translate various health materials issued by the government agency.

Translators from Inotherwords Incorporated, a partner organization of CSC, volunteered their expertise and experience, and were thus tapped for the task.

They were Hannah Marie Aranas, Niño Augustine Loyola and Trizer Dale Mansueto.

CSC Director Hope Sabanpan-Yu said translation is one of the priorities of the Center.

Aside from helping institutions in their work to reach the community, Yu hopes that the rest of the world will be able to read important Cebuano literary works in the near future.
