Man nabbed for selling rare agarwood wedges

A 31-YEAR-OLD farmer was arrested after he allegedly sold Agarwood wedges during the joint police buy-bust operation in Abuyog, Leyte Wednesday evening, December 16, 2020.

The suspect, Felix Acid, sold Agarwood wedges, locally known as Lanete or Lapnisan, weighing more or less 32 grams with an estimated market value of P10,000, according to the police.

Authorities also confiscated from the suspect’s possession and control another three kilograms of illegally cut Lapnisan or Lanete chips worth P90,000 and buy-bust money.

The suspect will be facing charges for violation of section 77 of President Decree 705, or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines and violation of Republic Act 9147, otherwise known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act. (SunStar Philippines)
