ANG resulta sa Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2019, nga gihimo gikan sa Marso hangtod sa Hunyo sa 2019 apan gipagawas niadto lang Disyembre 8, 2020, nagpakita nga ang mga Grade 4 students sa Pilipinas nangiwit sa 58 ka mga nasod sa Mathematics ug Science.
Ikatulo na ni nga pagtuon nga nangiwit ang mga estudyante sa Pilipinas. Laing pagtuon sa 2019 sa Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Association (Seaneo) ug sa United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) nagpakita nga gamay nga porsiyento sa mga Grade 5 students sa Pilipinas nanghawod sa Mathematics, reading ug writing.
Samtang ang pagtuon sa 2019 sa Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) sa Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) nagpakita nga nangiwit ang mga Pilipino sa 79 ka mga nasod sa reading literacy ug ikaduha gikan sa ubos sa mathematical ug scientific literacy.

Gusto ni Gatchalian nga i-decongest ang K+12 curricula ug seguruhon ang Reading, Writing, Math ug Science. Angay sab ingaling tan-awon ang kapasidad sa mga magtutudlo sa maong mga subjects. Duna ra bay prinsipyo nga nag-ingon, “You cannot teach what you do not know.”
Kumusta man sab ang budget sa edukasyon? Ang Section 5(5), Article XIV, 1987 Constitution, nagkanayon, “The State shall assign the highest budgetary priority to education and ensure that teaching will attract and retain its rightful share of the best available talents through adequate remuneration and other means of job satisfaction and fulfillment.”
Apan matod pa ni Senador Panfilo Lacson, ang Department of Education usa sa mga departamento nga napahakan ang budget sa 2021 aron mabalhin sa mga magbabalaod ang P28.35 bilyones ngadto sa Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) alang sa ilang mga paboritong proyekto.
Sa 2021 General Appropriations Act, ang DepEd nabinlan na lang og P557.25 bilyones gikan sa orihinal nga P568.65 bilyones. Kamo na lay subtract. Bitaw, ingon ni Lacson P11.4 bilyones ang napahak sa budget sa DepEd.
