INVADING the men's world was a bold decision for former beauty queen Lin-ay sang Silay 2017 Ronnielyn Jochico, as she shifted career path by joining the ranks of the Philippine Coast Guard.

From her former girly look, she is now required to have a short (military) haircut, wear a camouflage uniform and currently being addressed now as Probationary Ensign (P/ENS) Jochico.

While changing her outward image to the opposite, she still maintains her aura of having a gorgeous face, sweet and genteel lady as shown in her looks and smiles.

Jochico finished Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at John B Lacson Colleges Foundation and was named as former Miss JBL Bacolod and Iloilo, Halaran Queen 2016 and Lin-ay sang Silay 2017.

"Honestly, I can cite no particular reason why I joined the Philippine Coast Guard. I was working then in a 4-star hotel in Bacolod City and maybe I was just looking for some new adventure for my career when Philippine Coast Guard knocked on my door and I grabbed it with no hesitations," she said.

In a post in the Lin-ay sang Silay page, Jochico's decision to join the Coast Guard was described as: "From gowns to battle dress, heels to combat boots. Indeed the biggest plot twist has transpired."

These words coming from our very own Lin-ay Sang Silay 2017 gave a strong message to every empowered woman of Silay City that it is never a dream when it becomes reality to foray into the fields that every Silaynon woman wants to. Be it in beauty pageants, be it in public service, women are entitled to be what they want to be and to be the strong and independent that Silaynon women are nowadays.

The former beauty queen got congratulatory messages from her fellow Silaynons for her new career path.
