THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 has started gathering information on the killing of lawyer Baby Maria Concepcion Landero-Ole who was shot dead by a riding-in-tandem suspect in Danao City on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020.

Although they have yet to conduct an actual and official investigation, NBI 7 Director Rennan Augustus Oliva said they are collecting information that may prove useful in solving Ole’s murder.

He said they are also waiting for Ole’s family to formally request an investigation.

“We’re just preparing so we will have leads when we start the official investigation. We haven’t started because the family has not made a formal request yet,” Oliva said in Cebuano.

He said they are willing to coordinate with the police who are working on the case.

He said NBI 7 agents already visited the scene of the crime and interviewed individuals who could be potential witnesses. They are also working on securing footage from security cameras in the vicinity, he said.

“We will have to coordinate with police if members of the Scene of the Crime Operation were able to collect physical evidence. If so, where are the slugs or shells? That’s what we are trying to secure,” Oliva said.

The Danao City police had said that Ole was driving her white pick-up when two motorcycle-riding men suddenly stopped beside her vehicle in Barangay Looc.

Witnesses had told police that the backrider pulled out a gun and fired at Ole several times. The two assailants then fled the scene.

Ole was the widow of Juanito Flores Ole, an identified drug lord in Danao City who was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Barangay Poblacion, also in Danao City, last May.

Juanito had just been released from the New Bilibid Prisons in Metro Manila when he was killed.

The NBI 7 is also working on the murder of lawyer Joey Luis Wee and the attack on James Joseph Gupana.

Wee was gunned down last Nov. 23, while Gupana was shot on Oct. 10.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind both attacks. (WBS)
