4 arrested over illegal drugs in Eastern Visayas

POLICE and anti-narcotics agents arrested on Saturday, December 19, 2020, four alleged drug personalities during separate buy-bust operations in Eastern Visayas towns.

In Catarman, Northern Samar, 55-year-old car sales agent Haji Said Badron Guro was arrested after a poseur buyer purchased from him one sachet containing suspected shabu.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession and control were nine sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money, some cash and a motorcycle.

Operatives from Catarman Municipal Police Station, Northern Samar Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and Provincial Intelligence Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), identified the suspect as a street-level individual.

In Culaba, Biliran, authorities arrested 48-year-old jobless resident Noel Ortillada for allegedly selling a sachet containing suspected shabu during the operation.

Operatives from Biliran Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Culaba Municipal Police Station and PDEA also confiscated two sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money and P280 cash from the suspect.

An 18-year-old jobless resident was also arrested in Barangay Canlapwas, Catbalogan City.

Operating units from PDEA and Catbalogan Station Drug Enforcement Team confiscated undetermined quantities of marijuana from the suspect.

The confiscated evidence include three pieces marijuana leaves wrapped in plastic, as the subject of delivery; three pieces marijuana leaves wrapped in folded paper; a box containing one bubble wrapped toy truck, which served as a container of drug evidence; and a smartphone.

In Tacloban City, operatives from Police Station 2 Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with PDEA, arrested a 24-year-old high-value individual identified as Rafael Amarilla Susaya.

Purchased from the suspect was one sachet containing suspected shabu, while confiscated from his possession and control were 14 sachets containing suspected shabu worth P652,000, another three sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves, buy-bust money, and other personal items.

Barangay and media representatives also witnessed the markings and inventory of the pieces of evidence during the said anti-illegal drug operations, police said in the report.

The suspects will be facing charges for violation of sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Philippines)
