FIVE drug personalities were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga City, the police reported Monday, December 21.
Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Liza Halkain, 32; Edcel Uyao, 41; Alber Ikiram, 36; Mike Baring, 28; and Adam Arabain, 23.
Duco said Halkain was arrested while trying to slip into the detention cell of the Zamboanga City Police Office's (ZCPO) Station 11 some P3,000 worth of shabu packed in a heat-sealed plastic sachet and two pieces of aluminum foil while visiting a relative 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
Duco said the shabu wrapped in a white paper and the aluminum foil were concealed in a container filled with cooked rice.
Duco said Uyao was arrested in possession of some P4,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Camino Nuevo village, Zamboanga City.
Seized from Ikiram were some P30,000 worth of shabu and P500 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 8:20 p.m. Sunday in Talon-Talon village.
Duco said Baring was found in possession of some P2,000 worth of shabu and P200 marked money when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 10:50 p.m. Sunday in Manicahan village.
He said Arabain was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 11:53 p.m. Sunday at Phase 1, Sitio Asinan in Kasanyangan village.
Authorities recovered some P3,700 worth of shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and P220 marked money from Arabain.
The suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against them.
