A MOTORCADE for Sr. Sto. Niño all over Iloilo City will take place on January 22 as Ilonggos pay homage to the Child Jesus in celebration of Dinagyang Festival 2021.

The route will be finalized, officials said.

This is in lieu of fluvial procession from Fort San Pedro to Iloilo River and foot procession along Calle Real to San Jose Parish church.

Next year's festivities will go digital due to restrictions on physical distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The religious sadsad or streetdancing on January 23 and feast day of Sr. Sto. Niño on January 24 will be broadcasted online.

"Sadsad is very important and significant. The pandemic should not stop us from doing sadsad; our faith should give us courage. This will also test our unity and faithfulness," Rev. Fr. Jose Gonzales, OSA, acting parish priest of San Jose Parish Placer said.

The Cofradia Del Sto. Niño de Cebu Iloilo City Chapter has prepared the liturgical activities for the 53rd year of showcasing faith and devotion after the gift was received in 1968.

The nine-day novena mass from January 15 to 23 will be at 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The organizing committee assured that health and safety protocols will be followed and all activities will be coordinated with the city's Covid Team to ensure public health and safety. (PR)
